Christine Keener

Verizon
Director of Government and Community Affairs

Christine Keener leads external affairs for Verizon across Northern and Central Coast California. She builds the coalitions and crafts the narratives that move complex regional priorities forward, connecting government relations, community partnerships, and brand strategy into a single, coordinated approach.

Before Verizon, Keener managed government relations and community affairs for San Francisco's Department of Recreation and Park, covering over 220 parks and representing the department on the city's Healthy Streets Operations Center. She previously helped stand up the city's newly formed Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing.

Keener began her career in California political campaigns, rising from Deputy Field Director to Campaign Manager. That foundation shaped her approach: durable results come from coalitions, not mandates.

She currently serves on the Mission Bit Board of Directors, the SAMCEDA Board, and the REACH Advisory Council, extending her focus on education access, economic development, and regional innovation.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Christine holds a Bachelor of Political Science with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of California, Riverside. A lifelong Bay Area sports fan, she coaches softball and spends her downtime traveling, reading, and with her wife and son.
