Christine Keener

Director of Government and Community Affairs

Christine Keener serves as the Director of Government and Community Affairs in Northern California at Verizon. She is responsible for developing and implementing the company's local government and community affairs strategy which includes public policy, community engagement and philanthropic work. In addition, she is helping to bring a robust technology network that will redefine how people live, work, play and thrive. Through coalition building, she strives to create solutions that solve social problems and enhance community resilience.

Prior to joining Verizon, Keener was the Manager of Policy and Community Affairs for San Francisco's Department of Recreation and Park where she managed government relations and community affairs for over 220 parks. In this role she helped oversee various educational programs and served as the department’s representative to the Healthy Streets Operations Center.

Previously, she worked for the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing where she helped grow the newly formed department.

Keener began her career working on numerous political campaigns throughout California. During this time, she has held positions from Deputy Field Director to Campaign Manager. Throughout her career, Keener is known for her political savvy, passion for community engagement, coalition building and creative problem-solving skills. Keener previously served on the Board of Directors for the Museum of the African Diaspora and currently serves on the Mission Bit Board of Directors.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Christine earned her Bachelor of Political Science with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of California, Riverside. She is an avid Bay Area sports fan, enjoys coaching softball, traveling, reading and spending time with her wife.
