Vote to Name the New S.F. Bay Ferry Boats

"'The Chronicle’s' 'Total SF' project is hosting a contest to name the next five San Francisco Bay Ferry vessels. Vote for up to five names in the list below.

In the first stage of the contest, we received more than 1,500 nominations for boat names from 'Chronicle' readers. We worked with ferry officials and captains to narrow them down to 27 finalists, listed alphabetically below.

Now their fate is in your hands. The new passenger ferries, which will have full electric power (the first in the U.S.!) and seat up to 400, will be ready to cross the bay in 2027 and 2028.

You can find more on the ferry name selection process in today’s column, including a few of our favorites that didn’t make the cut.

Voting closes on May 8, with the top names being sent to the WETA board of directors for final approval.

Winners will be announced shortly thereafter. (Click here for the complete contest rules and voting rules.)"
