Darian Harris

Darian Harris is an award-winning healthcare executive recognized nationally as a trailblazer in hospital transformation, operational excellence, and purpose-driven leadership.

As Chief Executive Officer of Sutter Health’s Mills-Peninsula Medical Center—one of the Bay Area’s leading regional hospitals—he has led the organization to sustained national recognition, including Healthgrades’ Triple Crown distinction (the only hospital in California to achieve this honor), CMS 5-Star status, Leapfrog “A” Safety Grades, and The Joint Commission’s Comprehensive Cardiac Center certification.

Named as one of only six national leaders to Reuters’ Future Leaders in Healthcare & Pharma list, Darian is widely regarded for advancing innovation that bridges data, health system design, and humanity. His leadership has catalyzed transformative initiatives in cardiovascular, oncology, and neurosciences growth, care redesign, digital health integration, and caregiver engagement—demonstrating how culture, technology, and compassion can collectively elevate both patient outcomes and organizational performance.

His diverse experience spans some of the nation’s most respected institutions, including Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Affiliate), Providence Health, and Kaiser Permanente. A frequent distinguished speaker and panelist, Darian has presented on healthcare innovation, workforce resilience, and system integration at both national conferences and international leadership forums.

He holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Washington, where he continues to mentor emerging healthcare leaders, and a Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University, where he later served as Assistant Professor of Healthcare Operations Management and Patient Flow. Most recently, he completed the Executive Healthcare Leadership Programme at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, further deepening his global perspective on sustainable, human-centered health system leadership.
