SAMCEDA Recommendations: November 2026 Ballot Initiatives

On the week of October 5th, San Mateo County voters will receive their ballots for the November 3rd Statewide General Election.
Through a thoughtful evaluation process, the SAMCEDA Board of Directors considered and took positions on the following local and regional ballot measures:
- Regional Transportation Measure
- Regional Transit Measure (RTM) - Public Transit Revenue Measure District: Transactions and Use Tax Measure
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on RTM
- The Regional Transit Measure (RTM) will provide dedicated funding to prevent catastrophic service cuts to BART, Muni, Caltrain, and AC Transit while investing in transit throughout the five-county region (Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara)
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on RTM
- Regional Transit Measure (RTM) - Public Transit Revenue Measure District: Transactions and Use Tax Measure
- County Measures
- Measure L - San Mateo County Charter Amendment Measure - Extreme Weather Events
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure L
- Approval of the Measure would amend the Charter to add a new provision to the Charter's Preamble designating long-term resilience to extreme weather events as a County priority
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure L
- Measure AA - San Mateo County Charter Amendment Measure - Affirmation of Rights
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure AA
- Approval of the measure would amend the Charter to add a new provision to the Charter's Preamble affirming the County's commitment to the dignity, civil rights, and equal protection of all County residents
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure AA
- Measure J - San Mateo County Charter Amendment Measure - Extension to Call a Special Election or Appoint
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure J
- Approval of the measure would amend Section 415 of Article IV of the Charter to extend, from 30 days to 60 days, the period in which the Board of Supervisors must either make an appointment or call a special election to fill a vacancy in an elective office other than the Board, and to require a public meeting before any appointment is made

- Measure U - San Mateo County Charter Amendment Measure - Reappointment of Supervisorial Districts
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure U
- Approval of the measure would amend Section 202 of the Charter and add a new Section 202.1 to require that the County's five supervisorial districts be reapportioned after each federal decennial census by an independent redistricting commission, rather than by the Board of Supervisors by ordinance

- Measure L - San Mateo County Charter Amendment Measure - Extreme Weather Events
- School District Measure
- Measure V - San Mateo County Community College District: Bond Measure
- SAMCEDA Position: Yes on Measure V
- Measure V will protect affordable college education, maintain quality job training, and repair aging classrooms and labs, all without raising taxes by a penny
