Commission on the Status of Women’s 2026 Women's Hall of Fame and Young Women of Excellence

Every two years, the County of San Mateo’s Commission on the Status of Women’s welcomes a  new group of honorees, including exceptional high school students, into a distinguished legacy that now includes more than 300 influential contributors. Since its establishment in 1984, this event serves as a meaningful way to honor the lasting contributions of women from across San Mateo County.

This year’s celebration coincided with International Women’s Day weekend at The Farallon Room at Skyline College in San Bruno.

San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture, the Arts Commission, the Commission on the Status of Women’s Women’s View

The San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture, the Arts Commission, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the Belmont Parks & Recreation Department hosted a reception to celebrate Women’s View 2026 art exhibition at the Twin Pines Art Center in the Manor House in Belmont.

The art exhibit showcased the work of women artists across the county, including participants from the Maple Street Correctional Center.



What's Happening East of 101? A Biotech Speaker Series ft Kaiser Permanente

As a highlight of the City of South San Francisco’s recent What's Happening East of 101? A Biotech Speaker Series, Kaiser Permanente was featured.

Board-certified cardiologist Dr. Douglas Zuckermann delivered an informative presentation on heart health, sharing expert insights on prevention, early detection, and effective management of cardiovascular conditions. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, recognizing key risk factors, and staying proactive through regular check-ups and screenings.

Skyline College's President's Breakfast

At Skyline College’s President’s Breakfast, held in the Farallon Room on the San Bruno campus, elected officials joined community and business leaders, as well as students and faculty, for a morning of connection and support. The annual event served as a fundraiser for the President’s Innovation Fund (PIF), which provides resources for forward-thinking programs and services designed to strengthen student success.


 

The San Francisco Peninsula’s 2026 Annual Tourism Luncheon

Industry professionals from tourism and hospitality convened at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport in Burlingame for The San Francisco Peninsula’s 2026 Tourism Annual Meeting.

The event honored Genentech and the San Mateo Daily Journal for their long-standing contribution to the prosperity of the Peninsula.

San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Bay Area Real Estate Deals of the Year Awards

The San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal held their Bay Area Real Estate Deals of the Year Awards to celebrate the Bay Area’s biggest, boldest, and most creative real estate deals completed across the Bay Area in 2025  at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner was presented to The Sobrato Organization’s John Sobrato.

Sustainable San Mateo County’s Sustainability Awards Celebration

Sustainable San Mateo County held its annual Sustainability Awards Celebration & Auction, honoring local leaders and organizations whose efforts have advanced sustainability and driven positive change throughout the community. The evening was dedicated to recognizing these contributions while bringing people together in support of continued environmental progress.

Held at the South San Francisco Conference Center in South San Francisco, this year’s event recognized Genentech’s Global Security Operations Center and more.


Leadership Council San Mateo County’s Alumni Party

The Alumni Party event marked five years of Leadership Council San Mateo County, celebrating the milestone and honoring the organization’s leadership programming alongside its accomplished alumni community at Skyway Center in San Carlos.

Caltrain’s Train Naming Ceremony for Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi

At Caltrain’s San Francisco Station, national and local leaders took part in a ceremony recognizing Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, as one of the agency’s new electric trains was officially named in her honor. The occasion highlighted both the expansion of Caltrain’s electric fleet and her longstanding public service.
