June events brought the community together through celebrations, experiences, and opportunities to connect.

KQED’s Taste & Sip

KQED’s Taste & Sip event brought together food and beverage enthusiasts for an evening of tastings from featured Bay Area restaurants and wineries at the San Francisco Design Center in San Francisco.

Guests indulged in tasty dish samples from various restaurants featured on KQED's award-winning restaurant review series, Check, Please! Bay Area.


SAMCEDA’s HLUT Committee Meeting

SAMCEDA’s Housing, Land Use, and Transportation (HLUT) Committee and elected officials toured PG&E's Utility Yard in San Carlos, where representatives provided an overview of their field operations and emergency response capabilities. 

The visit included a safety briefing, a guided walkthrough of key service vehicles including: a Peterbilt gas truck, double bucket truck, and emergency response unit. 

Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from PG&E's Electric and Gas field teams with a Q&A session with the operations staff.



San Mateo County's Redwood Resiliency Hall and Community Kitchen Grand Opening

In partnership with the County of San Mateo and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), the San Mateo County Exposition and Fairgrounds Association, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the grand opening of the Redwood Resiliency Hall and Community Kitchen at the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo.

The project strengthens San Mateo County's emergency preparedness by enhancing response capabilities, expanding food distribution services, and establishing critical shelter infrastructure to support residents during emergencies.



SAMCEDA’s 73rd Annual Meeting featuring "THRED Talks" - Weaving Our Region Together

SAMCEDA held its 73rd Annual Meeting featuring "THRED Talks" - Weaving Our Region Together event at The Farallon Room at Skyline College in San Bruno.

This year's event featured:

  • Natalie Holmes - Senior Researcher, Community Engagement and Analysis, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
  • Patrick A. McLaughlin - Research Fellow, Hoover Institution

  • Cecilia Phillips - Coordinating Producer / Reporter, KQED’s Check, Please! Bay Area

“THRED Talks," launched in 2016, is a showcase highlighting San Mateo County and its contributions to this dynamic Bay Area - Silicon Valley region. Through "THRED Talks," we weave stories, focusing on the County, its businesses, its innovators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.


County of San Mateo’s Commission on the Status of Women’s Listen & Learn District 2

The County of San Mateo’s Commission on the Status of Women hosted its Listen & Learn event at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in San Mateo.

As the third event in a series held throughout all San Mateo County districts, the forum encouraged community members to engage in meaningful conversations and share their perspectives on affordability.



 

San Mateo County Fair

The San Mateo County Fair drew visitors from near and far to the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo, where they enjoyed live entertainment, fun carnival rides, delicious food, and activities for all ages.

Under the Fair's "Where Tradition Meets Innovation" theme, its subtheme "In Bloom" celebrated the event's beginnings of its "1926 Little Flower Show," a community event organized by the Burlingame Garden and Flower Club and hosted in schools throughout San Mateo County.
