SAMCEDA's President & CEO Inducted to San Mateo County’s '2024 Women's Hall of Fame'

The County of San Mateo’s Commission on the Status of Women celebrated their 35th San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame event on International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Skyline College’s Farallon Room in San Bruno.

SAMCEDA’s President & CEO, Rosanne Foust, was named one of the inductees alongside the County of San Mateo’s BHRS Office of Diversity and Equity’s Dr. Maria Lorente-Foresti, Build Up San Mateo County’s Christine Padilla, CoastPride’s Jenny Walter, Half Moon Bay High School’s Catalina Gonzalez Johnston, and El Camino High School’s Maya Thompson.

The Women’s Hall of Fame was established in 1984 by the County of San Mateo’s Commission on the Status of Women to “…recognize the incredible work of women of all ages and walks of life in our community. Every two years a new slate of women, including outstanding high school students, join the ranks of some of San Mateo County’s greatest contributors, an honor roll that today reaches over 300 individuals.”

All the recipients were nominated by at least two individuals and selected anonymously from judges outside of San Mateo County (as listed in the event’s program).

During the ceremony, honorees were introduced by a member of San Mateo County’s Board of Supervisors.

The Women’s Hall of Fame recipients presented inspiring speeches about their paths, what this honor meant to them, their hopes for the future, and much more.

“I am here today because of my love for our community, my work both professionally and personally, and, in large part, because of my interactions with so many of you in this room. You brought me here on your shoulders and your wings,” Rosanne expressed at the opening of her speech.

At the end of her speech, Rosanne revealed that she brought each of the Hall of Fame honorees a candle as a gift. “To my fellow inductees I have something for each of you to remember this day. You have and will continue to light the way for those before and after you. I hope this candle reminds you of the light you are to your families, your colleagues, and your communities.”

"I’ve witnessed firsthand how committed of a leader Rosanne is through her passion, dedication, and advocacy efforts. On behalf of the SAMCEDA Board of Directors, we are so proud of Rosanne for being recognized and inducted to the San Mateo County’s 35th Women’s Hall of Fame,”  said SAMCEDA’s Chair of the Board, Ariane Hogan.

Congratulations to Rosanne and the 2024 San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fame recipients!
