HOUSING AND TRANSPORATION COMMITTEE

Transportation/Housing Committee – meetings ongoing
To preserve and increase the quality of life and economic vitality of San Mateo County by increasing opportunities for workers and residents to secure affordable homes, proximate to their work.
Actions serve to:

Increase Supply: Encourage the construction of compact developments—rental and for sale—in appropriate locations (near transit, jobs and services) in order to protect open space and prime agricultural land and maximize public infrastructure investments. Pursue goal in a manner that enhances economic vitality.

Increase Homeownership: Expand the ability of San Mateo County employees to purchase an affordable home near their work.

Adequate Funding: Advocate for an appropriately scaled and stable funding stream for housing at the local, state and federal level.

Eliminate/Reduce Barriers and increase incentives to facilitate the above goals.

The Transportation and Housing Committee works to stay informed about what organizations in this area are doing, and works toward positive collaboration where appropriate.  This includes suggesting program activities available to members and others on related important topics.
